More Than Just a Casino: Celebrating 30 Years of Chinook Winds

Chinook Winds Casino Resort is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and you’re invited to join the celebration!

Chinook Winds Casino Resort is a cornerstone of life on the coast. For three decades, they have provided entertainment and first class hospitality to visitors in Lincoln City, while also fueling economic growth in the area, supporting the sovereignty of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and investing in local charities and causes.

Thirty years strong, and the celebration is just getting started. The official anniversary date is June 21, 2025, with a headline comedy show by Jay Leno with guest Arsenio Hall, special promotions and other fun activities happening at the casino. But the celebration doesn't stop there! Join us all year long in honoring the past, celebrating the present, and looking ahead to the next 30 years.

Built on Tribal Strength and Vision

The story of Chinook Winds begins long before the first card was dealt or the first slot machine lit up. In 1977, Congress passed the Siletz Indian Tribe Restoration Act, reestablishing the federal recognition of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. In 1980, they were granted over 3,000 acres of reservation land, laying the groundwork for the casino to be built.

The casino officially opened in 1995 and quickly became a destination for entertainment, recreation, and community. Today, Chinook Winds offers an oceanfront hotel, convention center, golf course, indoor driving range, live performances, dining, family-friendly activities and more.

Events That Make a Difference

Chinook Winds Casino Resort is dedicated to enriching the Lincoln City community. Their annual events bring people together for fun while also supporting important local causes.

One of the most anticipated is the Surf City Classic Car Show, rolling in on August 23, 2025. Since 1999, this summer tradition has featured everything from classic cruisers and rat rods to low riders, 4x4s, motorcycles, and American muscle—all while raising funds for Angels Anonymous, a nonprofit that supports families in need. Also returning is Beach, Bacon & Brews on July 12. This flavorful event pairs ocean views with local craft beers, as Lincoln City charities compete in a sizzling bacon bite showdown.

Every September, Chinook Winds also hosts the annual Celebration of Honor, paying tribute to active-duty military members, veterans, and their families. The celebration includes free meals, veteran services, ceremonies, and more.

A Place to Celebrate Tribal Heritage

Each November, Chinook Winds Casino Resort honors the federal restoration of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians with the annual Restoration Pow-Wow, a celebration of the roots from which the casino was built. Hosted at the Convention Center, the event is open to all and features traditional dancing, music, vendors, and more.

The influence of the Siletz Tribe is present not just in events, but throughout the property itself. The casino’s design reflects Tribal ownership, incorporating the symbols, traditions, and natural beauty central to Siletz culture. Basket-weave patterns on the exterior of the building pay tribute to traditional Siletz craftsmanship, while salmon motifs appear throughout the space, honoring a species vital to the Tribe’s history and way of life.

Something for Everyone

From an oceanfront hotel with 243 rooms, including fireplace suites, to five dining options, an arcade, indoor pool, and family-friendly activities, Chinook Winds Casino Resort is more than a gaming destination. Guests can dine at the Rogue River Steakhouse or Siletz Bay Cafe, relax at Chinook’s Seafood Grill, or enjoy live weekend entertainment in the lounge. The resort also includes an 18-hole golf course and a nearby RV park. As the resort celebrates 30 years, everyone can find a way to join the fun.
