The beach is the perfect place to spend time with your family for so many reasons! With all the great restaurants, shops, kid-centered activities and miles of sandy beaches, Lincoln City has something for everyone. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of your stay:

Find one of 17 access points to the seven miles of beautiful, sandy beach just west of Highway 101. Walk, run and play in the surf and on the shore, fly a kite, beachcomb for agates, shells and even glass floats (hidden daily by Float Faries from the Finders Keepers program), ride fat tire bikes, forage crabs and clams from Siletz Bay and roast hot dogs and s’mores around a cozy bonfire.

Playgrounds for younger kids can be found at Wacoma Park, Regatta Grounds Park, Kids Park, and at the brand new Schooner Creek Discovery Park. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, take the kids to Game On, an awesome new indoor playground! And of course, kids of all ages can play classic and modern video games, pinball, and other arcade challenges at Funtastic Arcade & Claw City, Galaxy Gameroom, and Chinook Winds Arcade.

If you want to shoot some hoops together, Wecoma Park, Kirtsis Park, and Kids Park all have basketball courts. Maybe you want to play tennis or pickleball? Dorchester Park is perfect for both. For all the skaters in the family, Lincoln City is also home to a world-class Dreamland Skate Park. And, no matter what the weather’s doing, the Lincoln City Community Center has a heated, Olympic-size pool complete with diving boards and a waterslide. In addition to family soaking and swimming options, the Community Center also offers a basketball court and a rock wall for climbing.

Maybe you’d like to fly a kite? There are so many windy days here that are ideal for kite flying! In fact, Lincoln City hosts two annual kite festivals that bring together professional kite flyers and enthusiasts from around the world. The Summer Kite Festival will take place June 27-28, 2026, and the Fall Kite Festival will happen on September 25-27, 2026. Traditionally, held on the beach at the D River Wayside, the 2026 Summer Kite Festival will be held at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. This temporary change in location is due to the planned construction of the new Lincoln City Welcome Center at the D River Wayside. If you plan to fly your own kite, stop by Winddriven, Lincoln City’s premier kite shop.

It’s not a trip to the beach without ice cream and candy! Stop in to Eleanor's Undertow, Snack Attack, and Sundae Fundae for a scoop or two, banana split, or sundae. If you’d rather have yogurt than ice cream, drop by Ocean Freeze at the Lincoln City Outlets. Yummy assortments of saltwater taffy, chocolate creations, and all sorts of other sweet handmade confections can be found at Candyland, Reed’s Homemade Candies, and The Chocolate Frog.
