Beach Fire Safety

Beach fires are allowed much of the year on Lincoln City’s public beaches, but always check local regulations to be aware of seasonal closures. Use small pieces of wood only. Large logs are prohibited. All fires must be west of the vegetation line. Build your fire away from any beach grass and piles of driftwood.

Never leave you fire unattended, even briefly. Wind conditions can shift quickly along the coast, causing flames or embers to spread to nearby grasses or driftwood, potentially starting dangerous wildfires. When you're done, make sure the fire is completely out by dousing it with water, stirring the ashes, and repeating the process until the area is cool to the touch. Do not cover fires with sand. Burying fires in sand can make the sand dangerously hot, posing a burn risk to unsuspecting beachgoers who walk across the spot.

Responsible fire behavior not only protects the environment but also ensures the safety and enjoyment of others sharing the beach.
